Extreme Robots Doncaster

Last April, Team Triforce UK participated in the live Extreme robots event in Doncaster, our 4th event with The Last Slice. This heavyweight spinner weighs in at 104kg making it the biggest robot in our lineup. Extreme Robots is the only live show in the UK with an arena capable of showcasing heavyweight spinners.

The Last Slice in the pits, ready for action!

Our first battle of show 1 was against Judge Tread - a very bizarre creation built around an enormous truck tyre. They were hoping to stand up against the Last Slice's 125mph spinner, and indeed they did ... for a while. By the end of the battle Judge Tread's tyre was not just slashed in several places, The Last Slice was actually wedged into it and it took the combined effort of 4 roboteers and pit crew - as well as an angle grinder - to separate the two robots!

Onto show 2, and we were excited to participate in the first spinner 3-way fight, with The Last Slice, Lug Nut and the terrifying Zadkiel all due to enter the arena for a showdown. For this fight, The Last Slice was equipped with its raised pillar skid, bringing the spinner up off the ground where it could do more damage to Zadkiel. Unfortunately though, Zadkiel had some teething issues and was unable to enter the arena. This left us in a bit of a pickle - with The Last Slice up against a more conventional spinner, but with its raised configuration bringing the spinner too high to make contact.

Due to a bit of quick thinking from our driver - and a little luck - Lug Nut's first hit snapped the raised skid clean off, and The Last Slice was able to make contact on Lug Nut with its spinner, knocking the robot out when its battery connection became dislodged. We claimed our second victory of the event.

On the final day, we were in for a treat - a 4-way spinner battle! The Last Slice would be entering the arena with Lug Nut, Zadkiel, and Talio - a vertical spinner. In the chaos that ensued, only Zadkiel left the arena unscathed. The spinner champion reigned supreme once more. Thankfully there was no severe damage to The Last Slice, which was immobilised when Talio knocked off our drive belts.
