Extreme Robots Cheltenham

Team Triforce UK participated in the live Extreme Robots event in Cheltenham with our ferocious heavyweight spinner, The Last Slice. Weighing in at 110kg, this is the biggest class of robot on the UK live circuit and Extreme Robots is the only event where heavyweight spinners are showcased.

Our first battle was against Ogrekill, a vertical spinner built by Team All-Star. After a couple of spinner-on-spinner clashes, Ogrekill's drive was knocked out and The Last Slice declared the winner. With only very minor damage (and a few big dents in the new circular blade), we moved on to the final.

With Zadkiel coming up, The Last Slice was switched to its raised configuration, with bigger wheels and a tall skid that brought the spinning blade up nearly a foot higher. The theory was that this would be ideal for damaging Zadkiel, which is practically invulnerable against most horizontal spinners which just bounce off its big, flexible wheels. Unfortunately, some teething issues with this new configuration led to a drive failure and The Last Slice was forced to forfeit the match, this time with mostly self-inflicted damage. It transpired that the drive belts were too loose, they slipped and melted their plastic pulleys. Thus Zadkiel retained its title as the European Spinner Champion.
